Policy GCID
Staff Participation in Trainings, Workshops, and Conferences
School Board Approved: September 12, 2016

Arrangements for attendance and/or participation in trainings, workshops, and conferences shall be cleared with the administration in advance. Since the Board’s first concern is the educational welfare of our students (see BCA), participation in trainings, workshops, and conferences that occur when school is in session requires the prior approval of the superintendent.

Lectures, demonstrations or related activities performed by staff within the District are to be considered a service to the community and are to be performed without fee. No staff shall charge a fee for activities within the District directly related to his/her position. No staff may advertise or sell educational materials within the District not specifically authorized or approved by the Board.

When a staff member is invited to speak, serve on a panel, or similar assignment, all costs shall be borne by the organization sponsoring the event, unless the Superintendent, upon the recommendation of the principal, approves other arrangements.
