Policy JLIE
Student Automobile Use and Parking
School Board Approved: February 17, 2014

Improper use of a motor vehicle on school grounds can result in suspension from school (in school or away from school) for a period of time not to exceed five (5) days. Driving a motor vehicle from school grounds during the school day without written authorization will be considered improper use of a motor vehicle and will be considered ground for suspension.

Parking at the school is a privilege granted by the school and the privilege will be withdrawn if it is abused.

Prior to driving or parking on school grounds, students will be required to register motor vehicles in the main office and will be required to have a schools sticker on the motor vehicle.

If a student leaves the school ground in a motor vehicle without authorization, parents will be notified and the student will be subject to disciplinary action, including suspension from school.

Students may be permitted to drive themselves to and from school day activities with written permission of parents/guardians. Students granted permission to drive themselves to and from school day activities shall not be reimbursed for mileage. Parents/Guardians and students requesting that students be allowed to drive to and from school day activities shall complete and sign the appropriate Permission and Release of Claims form. “School day activities” include classes at other locations such as ATC Center, Nashua Community College, Franklin Pierce University, locations where educational activities integral to curriculum occur, and practices and events for participants on school-sponsored teams.
