Policy GCRD
Tutoring
School Board Approved: September 14, 2015
Reviewed: May 14, 2020
“Tutoring” for purposes of this policy is defined as providing instruction to a student compensated by a person or entity other than the Jaffrey-Rindge Cooperative School District.
The School District recognizes that tutoring can be an effective means of individualizing instruction and boosting student achievement. Employees are encouraged to assist students in the remediation of individual learning difficulties. No extra pay is authorized for such help because it is considered a part of the teacher’s and District’s responsibility to the student.
Tutoring services not sponsored by the District are considered a private business. It is considered unethical for teachers to charge their own students for any assistance while the students are enrolled in their class.
